The Leaflet.
Overview of the simulation:
-In Portugal,
Azores our task was to simulate the European Commission.
-This was only
possible and an awesome success because of the guidance of Ms Despoina Papadaki
during the informative and educational rehearsal she organized.
-Our simulation
game took place on Thursday, with the great participation of every student, who
represented Presidents, Vice-Presidents and Commissioners of several EU
Countries.
-After an
excellent debate, we ended up with the conclusion that Blue Growth is a very
important task that needs more recognition from citizens in general.
Opinions on the project:
Simulation:
- It was very helpful as we got more informed and aware of this very
serious issue that needs to be solved. We also had lots of fun because we had
the chance to cooperate many times as a team during projects.
Experience as a host:
- Amazing because we can get to know each other better and learn more
about different cultures and language. We also gain more experience about
having responsibility for someone and obviously improve our english skills a
loooot!
Experience as a guest:
- We enjoyed it so much. Making friends with the hosts and learning
about their culture and traditions it is definitely the best. An unforgettable
experience for sure.
Comments on work organization, meals and
trips:
- Everything was well organized and interesting. The meals are similar
as in Greece but different from the other 3 countries, and in overall they were
really tasty. Our trips were absolutely unpredictable and of course amazing.
Nothing alike the other countries and yet VERY BEAUTIFUL!!
The opening speech.
Good evening ladies and gentleman, welcome.
-Boa tarde.

At first, we have to thank the portuguese for their hospitality and letting us into their lives to see the culture from inside. Of course we would like to express our gratitude to the EU for financing our project. Also, thank you to the other countries and their students for taking part in the project. Last but definitely not least, we would like to show appreciation to the awesome Despina Papadaki for guiding us through the debate.
At first it all seemed a lot overwhelming, not knowing anyone around, but that’s where the ice breaking games came to the rescue. The coffee break was a great bonding time over a cup of Azorean tea. The presentations each country prepared went smoothly and helped us understand better the importance of Blue Growth. The lecture given by the university professor Fernando Rosa Rodrigues Lopes contributed to our general knowledge and helped us at the simulation. In order to raise awareness, the trip to Vila Franca, where we collected trash from the beach, was a success. But after such hard work, the portuguese people were kind enough to take us to one of their local restaurants and after that to the relaxing hot springs.
On Wednesday, we started the day with the Simulation Rehearsal. We met Madame Despina, and she helped us during the day. But after lunch, we went whale watching and watched some dolphins. They were very cute, and followed us for most of the trip. We ended the day with interviews. On Thursday, the simulation happened and we had an International Coffee Break. Everyone Brought some treats from their country. They were super tasty. Today, we worked in groups and enjoyed our last moments together. And here we are.
The simulation was a good experience for all of us, including the teachers. We discussed the Blue Growth because it is an important matter for our economic growth. We made up our mind on the final document and finished our job as the European Commission. Through this experience we overcame cultural differences and united we shared moments of long lasting friendship and peaceful coexistence.

What was your favourite memory of the week?
S1- Furnas, the water was very relaxing.
S2- Meaningful cooperative.
What is your opinion about the simulation?
S1- I learned a lot about the everyday work of the European Council, it was long but worth it.
S2- It was chaacterized by a lack of therotical knowledge, needed more preparation.
Would you participate in a project like this again?
S1- Definitely, yeah.
S2- Of course, because of the great energy and the people who were on the same page with you on european policy matters.

Description of Friday.
Day 5 - Friday, April 5th.
The day started
off with group work about our week experiences. In this blog later we will show
you what each group did. On the other hand we are all sad because it is departure
day tomorrow. Later each group presented their work. We worked so hard, I think
we deserve dinner.
Description of Thursday.
Day 4 - Thursday, April 4th.
Waking up
stressed for the Simulation today. The Simulation happened for half a day, we
discussed different subtopics about Blue Growth. At the end we all agreed to
one final document. During international coffee break we tried foods from other
countries. After the long day we all went to the beach and ate some ice cream.
